Objective

Complete the scheduled Niigata ZP-41 Z-PELLER® overhaul within 20 days—ahead of an impending deployment—to eliminate liquidated-damage (LD) exposure and keep the vessel’s charter timeline intact.

Challenge / Problem Context

  • Vessel had to sail for a new offshore platform assignment in 20 days.
  • Z-PELLER® overhaul was due before sailing to ensure propulsion reliability.
  • Typical overhaul duration is 30 days (or more)—risking schedule slippage and ≈ US $50 000 in LD penalties.

What Did We Do?

  • Built an expedited overhaul plan and mobilised an enlarged field team within 48 hours.
  • Pre-positioned all critical spares from Neptunus’ on-hand inventory to the L&T Shipyard dock.
  • Ran round-the-clock coordination between customer operations, shipyard staff, and Neptunus back-office to compress every workflow step.

Results That We Achieved

  • Overhaul finished in 16 days—25 % faster than the already aggressive 20-day target.
  • Customer gained 4 extra days for auxiliary maintenance and sea-trial testing.
  • Vessel sailed on schedule, avoiding ≈ US $50 000 in LD charges and securing charter revenue continuity.
