Neptunus successfully completed a 30K major overhaul of a NIIGATA 6L-28HX main engine for a harbour tug in India after approximately 30,754 running hours. The objective of the overhaul was to restore engine reliability, improve operational performance, and ensure continued safe operation.
The overhaul included complete dismantling, inspection, cleaning, calibration, renewal, and reassembly of major engine systems in accordance with OEM recommendations. Critical components including cylinder heads, fuel injection equipment, piston and connecting rod assemblies, cylinder liners, crankshaft bearings, governor assemblies, valve gear, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and starting air systems were thoroughly inspected and serviced.
During inspection, worn and damaged components were identified and renewed where required. Comprehensive calibration and measurement activities were carried out to verify that all critical engine dimensions remained within OEM limits.
Following completion of the overhaul, pre-commissioning checks, safety shutdown tests, and load trials were successfully performed. Engine operating parameters including lubrication pressure, cooling water pressure, fuel pressure, firing pressure, and exhaust gas temperatures were monitored and confirmed to be satisfactory.Neptunus successfully completed the 30K major overhaul of the NIIGATA 6L-28HX main engine for a harbour tug in India through systematic dismantling, inspection, calibration, component renewal, and reassembly in accordance with OEM recommendations.
