From just 2 tugboats in 1996 to 150+ vessels across India today. A journey worth celebrating.

UCSL, a subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, India, successfully launched Ocean Royal for M/s Ocean Sparkle Ltd, in the presence of senior officials from Ocean Sparkle Limited and Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited.

The vessel is powered by a Niigata engine (IHI Power Systems Co.,Ltd.) along with clutch and thruster systems, delivering the agility, reliability and operational efficiency required for modern harbour tug operations.

Niigata’s journey in India began in 1996 with just two tugboats. Today, we celebrate a fleet of 150+ vessels across the country operating with Niigata engines, supporting ports, terminals and marine operations nationwide. Each new vessel represents growing trust from India’s maritime industry.

Projects like Ocean Royal highlight the strength of Indian shipbuilding and the success of the Make in India vision, with shipyards such as UCSL delivering world-class vessels for global standards.
